SLD368 - Gingerbread Ornaments Set 1
Here’s a set of ornaments that will look good enough to eat! These darling little gingerbread characters are fun and easy to do and are sure to be favorites with everyone on your Christmas list.
In these instructions, we’ve included three different ways you can make these cute ornaments to suit your own personal taste. Pattern includes full instructions, along with step-by-step photographs to make all three styles of ornaments.
You can make a traditional fretwork set, where all the voids are cut or drilled. This method is great if you are making a lot of these ornaments for selling at craft fairs and making gifts. You can easily stack cut them with this process, and cut several at one time.
You can also embed small beads into them to make them sparkle. In the example, we used 4mm silver beads that are readily available at most craft stores and anywhere you purchase jewelry making supplies. The silver beads resemble non-peril candies and are a really cute way to dress the ornaments up.
Finally, you can use a product called DecoArt Snow Writer, which is actually DecoArt Sno-Tex that comes in a bottle with a tapered tip for easy dispensing. Using this tip, you can apply the Sno-Tex in a thin line to look like frosting and embellish your cookies that way. The writers are new and available where most DecoArt products are sold, or you can get them on line at www.decoart.com by mail order.
You could also cut a batch and have the kids help add the decorations, making a fun memory for everyone.
