SLD398 - Halloween Silhouette Ornaments and Mini Plaques Set 1
This wonderful set of six silhouette ornaments and plaques is the first of two sets of ornaments/plaques that I have designed and they are a perfect accent to your holiday faire. Whether you hang them on a tree or display them on a mantle or as a table centerpiece, they are sure to please and delight.
Both the ornaments and the plaques use a self-framing technique. By simply tilting the saw a few degrees and cutting the center of the plaque or ornament on an angle, you are able to push in the center of the piece and the frame locks into place slightly forward from the center. This gives your piece added interest and dimension.
Full instructions are included for completing the pieces either by leaving them natural and finishing them with mineral oil, or by painting the frames black and then applying acrylic metallic gold with a sponge to accent them. This gives a beautifully antique look to the pieces and highlights their Victorian flavor. (And to those of you who don’t like painting – you don’t even have to use a paint brush!)
Also included is a patterned sheet that you can copy and use for the backboards of your ornaments. Simply print the design on a good grade of paper, cut it to fit and glue it to the base of the ornaments and plaques to give you a wonderful background on which to glue your silhouettes. Or if you choose, you could paint the background using acrylic paint. The smaller ornaments may be a bit more difficult to cut and geared for the more advanced scroller, but the larger plaques are much easier to accomplish and may be the best choice for someone who is just learning. Feel free to enlarge the pieces as necessary to suit your decorating needs.
(PS - As a bonus - I have included two sizes of a slotted easel pattern so that you can display your ornaments and plaques on a table top of mantle!)
