Tray is 8" in diameter and fits a 4" dia. jar candle
This fun and easy-to-cut design is a must for any cat lover. The playful paw prints and cute silhouettes of the kitties make this piece whimsical and charming.
For my example, I used 1/8” walnut for the cat silhouettes. They are attached to the tray by drilling a small hole in the bottom of them and adding a wooden toothpick or small dowel to post them. While this procedure may take a little bit of practice, if you use a nice, sharp drill bit and a drill press it really isn’t too difficult to do. If you wish, you could use wood that is a bit thicker than the 1/8” that I used on my sample. I have made designs such as this with wood up to 1/4” thick and they still look really nice and it will be easier to get used to drilling for the posts. I used solid walnut for the silhouettes, but I invite you to try any type of contrasting scrap you may have on hand. You could even paint plywood solid black and get the same effect.
